Membership terms
These terms explain how your Our Sikhi membership works. Please read them before you join.
Who we are
Our Sikhi is an independent organisation based in the UK. You can contact us anytime at [email protected].
What the membership includes
Membership gives you access to the Our Sikhi app and community, including local and online circles, forum spaces, Debate Club, Book Club, Amritvela Club, the Gurmukhi reading and writing lessons, and a member discount of 20% on our paid courses. We may add, change or retire features over time, and we'll tell you about significant changes.
Plans and payment
You can pay yearly or every three months. Payments are taken by Stripe and renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. We'll email you before a yearly membership renews.
Founding membership
If you join before 8 November 2026, you pay for your first period today and your membership then renews from launch day: on 8 November 2027 for yearly members, or on 8 February 2027 for quarterly members. You keep the founding price (£99 a year or £35 every three months) for as long as your membership stays active. If you cancel and later rejoin, the price at the time you rejoin applies.
Cancelling
You can cancel anytime from your profile in the app. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you won't be charged again.
Refunds
If you change your mind, email [email protected] within 14 days of a payment and we'll refund it in full. After 14 days, payments are not refundable, but you can cancel anytime to stop future payments.
Seva
Part of every membership goes to fund school meals through Akshaya Patra. This is currently £1 a month (£12 a year, or £3 every three months). Based on a conservative £18 funding around 200 meals, that is about 130 meals a year per member. The amount may change over time; if it does, we'll update this page. Transfers are batched and published on our public log with receipts.
Community conduct
By joining, you agree to follow our sangat guidelines. If a member seriously or repeatedly breaks them, we may suspend or end their membership without a refund.
Taking part
Everything at Our Sikhi, including debates, discussions, book club, Amritvela Club and local meetups, is voluntary. You take part of your own accord and you are responsible for your own decisions, actions and safety, including when meeting other members in person. Views shared by members are their own, not ours. Our content is for general learning and reflection only. It is not professional, medical, legal, financial or religious advice, and you should not rely on it as such.
Your content
You own what you post. You give us permission to show it inside Our Sikhi so other members can see it. We won't use your posts in marketing without asking you first.
Our liability
We work hard to keep Our Sikhi running well, but we provide it as it is and can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your membership, your use of the app or website, or your dealings with other members, whether online or in person. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the membership fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll tell you by email before the change takes effect.
